Carson City Morgan Dollars bearing the famous “CC” mint mark are at the top of many coin collectors’ want lists. Like many dollars of the era, 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollars were not needed when they were minted. Many were relegated to long-term storage. Bags dribbled out of storage starting in the 1930s, with a much larger dispersal in 1962 to 1964 when hundreds of thousands of 1900-O dollars entered the marketplace. Many dollars were destroyed during private silver melts in the late 1970s.
